Stage Moms!

When I read this article about stage moms and child actors I thought it hit the nail on the head!  I've had many of the same experiences as the writer, who spells it out in her well written piece on stage moms and kids in the business of acting and performing.

As a headshot photographer specializing in kids and teen actors, on a regular basis parents disclose to me their fears about this business and whether they are making a mistake to support the wish of their child to act.

I've met some of the nicest families and parents who have genuine concern.  They are looking out for their child's well being and rightfully so!  They tell me that their kid loves to perform and or the child/teen always mentions they want to be on tv, or are begging the parent to get them an agent. The parents say they don't want to squash their childs dreams and goals, but they are a little bit afraid of some of the stage mom stories and news about young actors who went off the rails.
