Kids headshots and what to wear for your acting headshots

Child actors need headshots just like adults.  Even though they are still "kids" this is a business and all talent agents will require you to have headshots.  Most agents would like to see a few different looks.  This means your child actor will be photographed in several different outfits.  Typically child headshots are shot from the chest up, unless they are also a child model.  Here is an example of a young boys acting headshots showing different looks.  The first acting headshot is a "theatrical headshot" for tv and film roles.

This boys acting headshot can be used for commercials or print modeling.

Some agents like to see a "skill shot" that they can use to pitch the actor for commercials that require a skill like sports, music, or dance.  If you are very skilled it can be good to add this look to your child's portfolio.

If you are ready to get your child started in the industry, you will need to start with an excellent headshot.  Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to schedule a shoot fill out the contact form on my website www.robinlorraine.com.  Once we determine a date and time, then I will send you a headshot wardrobe guide and tips on what to prepare for the shoot.

I often hear people mention concerns about spending the money for kids headshots.  Getting kids headshots can seem so expensive.  But like any business (and kids acting is a business), you need your tools of the trade.  If you are a chef you will need your own knives even if you work for an employer.  The same goes for child actors.  They need their tools and one of the main tools for a child actor is their kids acting headshots.

With your kids acting headshot you don't want skimp and get the cheapest headshots, but you don't need to necessarily spend $600.  A good kid headshot photographer should be recommended by talent agents and talent managers.  This will speak a lot of their work as talent agents and talent managers want headshots that work and get the talent auditions.  A kids headshot photographer

A kids acting headshot photographer usually specializes in actors headshots.  They know the industry trends and what is needed and wanted from casting directors and talent agents for current scene.  There can be small differences that make or break your kids headshot and a top headshot photographer will know how to capture this.  Spending the money on your kids acting headshots is a worthwhile investment.  Sure, ask about the kids headshot pricing, but don't choose your photographer only for the price.  Ensure they have consistent and good work.  In fact, you should check out their kids headshot website and also view their recent work on instagram or facebook.  No one wants to pay the price of getting so so headshots.  In fact, it is a very expensive way to go if you have to re-do your headshots, that is really paying the price.
