KIDS HEADSHOTS auditions and bookings!

Kids headshots are key to getting auditions. And auditions lead to bookings! I can't stress enough how important a professional and well done kids headshot is. This child's headshots helped her get many auditions and bookings for modeling and commercials. And the icing on the cake...she recently got an audition and is now filming a feature film. It's not impossible, but it's definitely hard to get auditions without a professional headshot. A fabulous kids headshot...

will open doors. Your kids headshots must stand out, get the attention of a casting director and show them confidence, charm, personality and their look. Your agent will likely use several different images from your kids headshots. So with this in mind you want to ensure you have a variety of different headshots for them to choose from that will show their ability to play different types.

Kids headshots are vital to success in this business. It's something that you should consider...that this is a business. Show business. Of course, it should be a fun activity for your child just like if they were taking ballet or on a baseball team. And if your child is taking ballet, the teacher or coach will expect you and the child to be a professional...on time for classes and performances, wearing the right outfit, respectful of others in class, and buying the tools of the trade which are part and parcel of that activity.

Your child's headshots are one of the tools of the trade and talent agents will expect you to have professional photos. There really is no room for dilattants in this industry, it's much too competitive. If you just want your child to try acting out for a fun activity or to see if they like it, then a 4 week class or a school play might be the way to do this. But once you and your child have decided to pursue acting professionally, and get an agent, then it will behoove you to be a professional and ensure you have great acting headshots. LA Talent Agencies and fees - kids, teens and adults

Talent agents will NEVER charge you a fee. If a talent agency is telling you to pay them for anything...run fast! Talent agents work on commission and only get paid when you BOOK a job. This means your talent agent or talent agency is working for free until you book a job and then and only then do they get paid a commission. The state of California regulates talent agencies and talent agents must be bonded and licensed. I'm not sure of other states but LA talent agencies are licensed.

In addition to being a California state licensed talent agency, most talent agencies are also "SAG Franchised Talent Agencies". SAG is the Screen Actors Guild union and this union represents and protects actors who have joined and fights for actors rights. More about SAG in another post. The important thing to know if you are just getting started as an actor and seeking a talent agency, do not sign with a talent agent that is asking you to pay them. They are not allowed to charge you for classes, for traing, for anything including actor headshots.

Actors will need headshots and training but the agency is not allowed to charge you for this. You will pay the photographer or the acting coach directly. That said, the agency can "recommend" acting coaches, acting classes and LA headshot photographers.

Kids LA headshot photographers can be recommended by your agent but the agent does not get a fee for this or even a kickback. The same goes for acting classes or any actor training. If a children's talent agency wants to recommend your kid and is asking you to pay fees, I would seriously question this and personally I would look elsewhere, however I do believe mistakes can be made or maybe something needs to be clarified, so a little communication might be necessary to resolve this. But in my experience none of the talent agencies that I am familiar with or have dealt with charge ANY fees unless you book a job. BABY MODELING HEADSHOTS

This baby model did 3 wardrobe looks. He was so easy going and such a happy little guy. The perfect baby model is cheerful, happy, easygoing and good natured. Clingy babies will have a hard time modeling and honestly it's not fair to the child if they are shy or not enjoying it. I've worked with some babies that are so outgoing and happy and they seem to love interacting with everyone in the room. But I've also worked with babies and toddlers who would rather be doing something else and are a bit more shy or just want to be close to mom and not with others. You have to determine if your baby is good for modeling and if they seem to like a good fit. It doesn't mean that anything is wrong with a baby that is not super extroverted, more that they may be fit for other activities and excel in those. Casting looks for baby models that are not only cute or have unique features, but also baby models that are not fussy and afraid of others. It's very clear that this baby model is a very happy baby.
