Agent choices from a recent teen acting headshot session with a beautiful and lovely young actress.  In this session we did 4 different looks. She ended up with about 350 images and then her agent chose these 5 images to promote her to casting agents.

Always keep in mind the colors and what it projects and the collars and necklines and what they project.  Jock or popular high school kid, edgy, quirky, smart kid, boy next door, trouble maker...they are all characters he can play.  With these headshots and the range they show, the talent agent can submit different images for different roles.

Most teen actors are pretty serious about their career and have been interested in acting for a long time.   Some are brand new to the game and some are seasoned actors who already have a strong resume under their belt.  One thing I see with most of them is that they already know where they want to go and and are working on their long term goals.

Tax Time! Argh!

It's that time of the year and April 15 is just around the corner!  Did your child or teenage actor book a commercial or even multiple commercials?  Did they work a tv show?   Many people are surprised when their child actor gets a big tax bill or when they see how much has been taken out of paychecks from commercials, tv and film jobs.  And although I am not an accountant or legal advisor in this area I can say there are many things you can do to save on taxes or help get a bit of return on that money that was taken out for taxes.  Of course always get the advise of your accountant or CPA!

I just finished reading a great article that gives some nice tips on potential expense write offs for actors.  After reading this you may want to check with your accountant on what your child can deduct when he/she makes money from professional acting jobs.  Here's the article: Add Up Your Actors Tax Deductions.

It's never to early to get organized in this area even if you haven't made any money yet.  Like the saying goes "Knowledge is Power" and that can result in money power.  Saving receipts and keeping good records can be a lifesaver at the end of the year if your child earned a sizeable income.  It's an exciting time when your child books an acting job and they can even make an adult income, but don't be caught off guard by not knowing the laws relating to actors and taxes.

HEADSHOT session with a teenage actress

This was from a fantastic headshot session with teen actress Alexa. She has had excellent success from her new acting headshots.  Immediately after the headshot session she secured a talent manager and agent and then went on to book her first audition with the first headshot below, for a Dell computer commercial.   Shortly after she booked another audition for an Ubisoft campaign with the fourth headshot you can see below. This headshot got her in the door for her very first audition and she booked it!  A Dell computer commercial.

Pretty teenager or cheerleader type commercial headshot. 

 

The above headshot look is the "relateable" shot.  The everyday, approachable, Modern Family look. 

The headshot got the young actress an audition for a fashionable, young teenager role.  Once again she booked that job! Typically hats are not used for headshots, but on occasion agents will choose a hat shot to keep as part of the actors online headshot portfolio.
